Privacy Policy

How SafeGround handles your information.

General information only, not legal advice.

Who we are

SafeGround is run by Federico Vidili, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Federico Vidili is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

You can contact us about anything in this policy, including requests about your data, at support@safeground-co.com.

Information kept on your device

Most of what you enter — your household profile, checklists, plans, practice progress and reminders — is stored in your own browser on your device. It does not leave your device unless you choose to sign in and save it to an account. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Information we hold if you create an account

If you sign in, we hold:

  • Your email address and, if you provide it, your name.
  • The preparedness information you save, such as your household profile, checklists, plans and reminders.
  • Basic technical information created when you use the app, such as your sign-in session and the date you last used it.

We do not store payment card details. Payments for Safeground Pro are processed by Stripe, which acts as an independent payment provider. We receive confirmation that a payment was made and your email address.

We do not collect special category data such as health information. Please do not enter medical details beyond what you need for your own planning.

Location

The Emergency Map and Navigation features ask for your permission before using your device location. If you allow it, your approximate coordinates are used to show nearby weather and flood warnings. Your coordinates are sent to the public forecast service used to look up the weather for your area. You can decline or turn location off at any time in your device settings, and the rest of the app still works.

Why we use your information

  • To provide the app and keep your saved plans available across your devices — because you asked us to provide this service.
  • To keep the app secure, prevent misuse and fix faults — because we have a legitimate interest in running a safe, working service.
  • To use your location for local warnings — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it to anyone.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers that make the app work: the platform that hosts the app and stores account data, the email service used for sign-in, verification and password reset messages, and Stripe, which processes payments for Safeground Pro. These providers act on our instructions.

Weather and flood warnings come from public services that receive your coordinates or no personal information at all. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Account information is kept while your account is open. If you delete your account, the associated plans and profile are deleted with it. Limited records, such as security logs, may be kept for up to 12 months where needed to investigate misuse or meet legal obligations.

Information stored only in your browser stays until you clear it or delete your account in the app.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Ask us to delete your information.
  • Ask us to restrict or stop certain processing, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Receive your information in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent, for example for location access, at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@safeground-co.com. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies and analytics

The app uses a small amount of essential browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember your settings and preferences. These are needed for the app to work, so there is no opt-out for them.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we add analytics in future, this policy will be updated first and, where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent before any analytics are set.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from the Dashboard under Account & Data. Deleting your account removes the plans, checklists and profile saved to it. You can also clear the information held on your device from the same screen, or by clearing your browser data. If you need help, email support@safeground-co.com.

Children

The app is intended for adults planning for their household. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear here with a new date. Significant changes will be made clear in the app.
